About Cody Cove Farm & Nursery

Cody Cove Fruit Farm and Nursery is a small family farm specializing in unique edible crop genetics.  Our goal is to provide nutritious food to the community and promote sustainable agriculture through offering high quality plants and produce.  We focus on collecting elite edible plant varieties from around the world and making them available to home gardeners, small farms and beyond.  We are located overlooking beautiful Crooked Lake in subtropical Babson Park, Central Florida.

Meet the Growers

Josh Jamison is the primary grower, horticulturalist and nursery worker at Cody Cove.  He was the garden manager at the HEART Village from 2013-2022 working as an educator and managing the diversified demonstration farm. This job opened up the opportunity for working with hundreds of types of crops and extensive travel to many agricultural sites in Florida and a number of tropical countries.  His specialties and interests lie in edible food crops of the world and sustainable growing practices.  Josh has presented as a speaker at numerous public events including as a keynote speaker at the International ECHO Conference.

Emily Jamison, NTP does customer service, website management, nursery work and shipping.  She was the kitchen manager at the HEART Village from 2014-2021, where she worked in nutrition education and meal preparation.  Much of this work revolved around innovative daily usage of lesser known tropical produce.  She is a licensed Nutritional Therapy Practitioner through the Nutritional Therapy Association.  Emily operates at the intersection of farm and table.

Andrea Garnes is our sister.  She reviews fruit and provides smiles around the farm.

Our Plants

We offer seeds, potted plants and other types of propagation material for planting on your garden or farm.  We strive to provide the highest quality with every order to ensure the maximum chance of success for the grower.  What makes our crops unique is that we pay special attention to collecting the very best when it comes to genetics.  We do informal trials, grower networking and extensive research to figure out what kinds of plants perform well and taste the best.  We believe in the power of genetic selection and, in many cases, the varieties we offer are the result of trying many varieties and keeping only the very best.  Many of our plant varieties are not readily available elsewhere or may be our owned named selections unique to our farm.

We focus on shipping smaller plants to reduce shipping expenses. We also ship live cuttings, bulbs and other types of live planting material. Both of these rely on the customer having a small amount of horticultural knowledge once the package shows up in the mail. Our sales come with informational sheets about the plants to help customers have the best chances for success with their new plants.

Note that we are in subtropical Central Florida and descriptions of crop performance are under these conditions. We encourage customers to comment their experience with our plants so others can learn from their success or failure with a specific variety under those particular conditions.

Buy Plants in Person

Plants are available for in person sales for local persons by appointment only. Reach out via email to check current inventory and schedule a time to visit the nursery. We love for visitors to check out what js going on around the farm and learn from our plantings. This said, if you are hoping for an extensive guided tour along with your nursery visit please read below about tours. We also have fruit for sale during in-person visits.

Buy Our Produce

If you are in Central Florida, please reach out about buying fruit.  Given that our farm is relatively new, many of our fruits are not in production yet but as time goes on availability will increase.  At this time we do not ship fruit.

Guided Tours

We are happy to provide tours of our farm for individuals and small groups. We ask $10 per person for a roughly 1 hour guided tour of the farm which often can include tasting seasonal fruits.

Education

As a service to the community we work to publish information about sustainable agriculture.  We have a YouTube channel, blog and provide informational sheets with orders.

Community Service

Other than paying our bills, we do this work so we can help other people in whatever way we can.  We will be developing programs in the future to make this happen on a formal basis.

FAQ

You only ship to Florida? Why?

We are a new business and are working to get everything in order.  Shipping plants within the state of Florida is much less restrictive than out of state shipping.  We will be working to comply with regulations for other states and hope to offer shipping throughout the US as soon as possible.  We apologize for this temporary inconvenience.  At this time we cannot make exceptions.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

We ship packages once a week.  Time from shipment to arrival is typically around 3 days within the state of Florida.  This means that the range of days from ordering to arrival is roughly 3-10 days.  Plants are fickle living beings that sometimes cause unexpected delays.  If an issue pops up we will message you to inform you of possible delays and offer a refund as an option.

Are you still at the HEART Village?

Our primary focus is now on our own farm in Babson Park but we are still affiliated with the HEART Village as community members, supporters and occasional instructors.

Can you speak at my event?

At some times Josh is available to speak at an event or lead a workshop.  We prefer only to present within a 2 hour driving range of Babson Park, Fl.  Our rate for a public speaking event is $100 plus $.50 per driving mile to and from the event.

Do you do consulting/edible landscape design?

At this point, we are not available to do on-site consultation or edible landscape design.  We do offer phone/Zoom consultations with Josh at the rate of $50 per hour.  Josh feels confident consulting on topics such as organic small-scale vegetable growing, fruit crops, farm layout, lesser known edibles, site analysis, sustainable tropical farming and more.  Send an email inquiry to josh@codycovefarm.com regarding phone consultation so we can make sure we are good fit for your needs before we proceed.  Payments can be made on PayPal.
