Cassava – Guyana

This cassava came from a friend, supposedly originating in Guyana, South America. Our friend brought a wonderful meal prepared from the roots when we got the cuttings. It’s hard to say if this meal was more of a commentary on the chef or the cassava itself, but it was delicious with a distinctive doughy quality and good flavor. Hurricane Milton blew our plants over in 2024, leaving virtually nothing for us to cook for our own evaluation. In 2024 the plants grew well but due to the hurricane interruption we can’t comment much on yield, precocity or other production traits. If the dense, dough-ball quality is a consistent eating trait and production is acceptable in the future, this will be a worthwhile cassava cultivar to grow.
