Hirose is generally considered a variant of Bambusa oldhamii or an extremely closely related species. Rather than reinvent the wheel, we invite you to read our read our more thorough listing on B. oldhamii) to get a general idea about Hirose. Hirose behaves very similarly to standard B. oldhamii. The main difference is that Hirose is reported to grow a little taller. There are claims that Hirose produces a stronger timber culm, but we are unable to personally verify if this is true or not. There are also reports that Hirose produces a good quality edible shoot, but we have not personally consumed them to verify.

Unlike the rest of our inventory, we do not propagate these plants ourselves. A local nursery produces the plants from tissue culture. This listing is for a one gallon potted plant. We recommend stepping the plant up into a three gallon pot and regularly fertilizing to gain some more size before planting into the ground.
