Longevity Spinach – Cuttings

This plant is a vigorous, sprawling ground cover that makes edible leafy greens.  They are primarily enjoyed cooked but some people eat them raw.  We particularly enjoy cooking the new shoots, stem and all.  The leaves are highly nutritious and the name is a reference to the belief that it has life extending qualities.  This plant bears the distinction of being the only perennial leafy green we know of that has high quality greens every day of the year in Florida, provided it isn’t exposed to frost which it is very sensitive to.  This is a highly adaptable plant that makes a nice cover under newly planted fruit trees.  It has proven to be a reliable vegetable crop for thousands of Florida gardeners.  Plants are weakly perennial, needing to be started into a new patch every year or two.

We send a bundle of 10 cuttings which are packed immediately after cutting into plastic bags with moisture to ensure survival in transit.  We take great care to select only the healthiest cuttings and to cut immediately before shipping to reduce time from cutting to planting upon arrival.
