This is the purple-leafed relative of longevity spinach reputed to have the same nutritional and medicinal benefits.  The greens are typically cooked like spinach but some people enjoy eating a small amount raw.  Though more ornamental, we find this version slightly less desirable in general than longevity spinach.  It grows more upright and less sprawling.  This version has the advantage of being more likely to return from the base after a hard freeze though the top of the plant is frost sensitive.  This plant performs well in many gardens throughout the state of Florida.  Plants are weakly perennial, needing to be started into a new patch every year or two.

We send a bundle of 10 cuttings which are packed immediately after cutting into plastic bags with moisture to ensure survival in transit.  We take great care to select only the healthiest cuttings and to cut immediately before shipping to reduce time from cutting to planting upon arrival.    Cuttings take extremely easily with nearly 100 percent survival rates.  Gynura crepioides.
