Giant Turmeric – Rhizomes

This turmeric is exactly what the name indicates. Big, super, stupendously giant turmeric! This is a very special new clone of turmeric with really serious potential. Our source for this variety reports that each plant can yield as much as five pounds. So far the results have been impressive at Cody Cove Farm. The fingers of this turmeric are several fold larger than some more common types, simply amazing! The flavor is no different than any other turmeric. This is a major step up from common turmeric with fingers the diameter of a pinky. Please note that the turmeric in our photos was grown in ideal conditions. Turmeric is a relatively thirsty, fertility craving plant. Giant Turmeric grown under less than optimal conditions may not yield the giant fingers shown in our photos.

This listing is for 2 large chunks rhizomes/planting pieces which can later be broken into a minimum of 4 planting pieces.  We believe each exposed cut is a vulnerability for rot, so we are making as few breaks as possible.  Turmeric sprouts in May at Cody Cove Farm. The rhizomes chunks can be stored in soil in the meantime, with low to moderate watering. They may then be later broken into smaller pieces to be grown out as transplant or directly sown into a garden.  Each individual rhizome is different with varying amounts of plantable fingers and knobs, so each order may look a little different from what is shown in the display photo.
